Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Purchasing managers are involved in all aspects of the company’s business, from development to finding costs savings to corporate strategy to production. A successful purchasing manager must be able to review proposals for new projects in a timely manner, and they must maintain frequent interaction with marketing teams to discuss sales proposals and marketing strategies. They also must be skilled at finding cost savings.

    Purchasing managers handle contract negotiation, maintain level of rapport with vendors and clientele, and supervise purchasing agents. They strive to seek out the best possible vendors with the most reasonable price for the value sought. Individuals in these positions must be able to multitask while paying great attention to detail. They must have a solid understanding of math, as well as excellent analytical skills. A successful purchasing manager exudes confidence and is able to think quickly on his or her feet. He or she must be comfortable with enforcing the company’s policies and procedures, as well as have a good background in business/accounting and knowing how an organization functions internally.

    Purchasing Manager Responsibilities

    • Cost saving & comparing purchases.
    • Aware of price increase of materials.
    • Material inventory.
    • Coordinate with project manager on purchases.

    • Abide by SBD policies and procedures.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
