This role also involves developing and implementing nursery policies and procedures, managing budgets, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the nursery. Responsibilities

• Develop and implement nursery policies and procedures
• Manage daily operations of the nursery, including opening and closing procedures
• Oversee budgeting and financial planning for the nursery
• Hire, train, and delegate duties to nursery staff
• Monitor watering times, soil conditions, plant positions, and weather conditions
• Respond to customer requests and assist nursery staff
• Manage softscape sourcing, pricing, and purchasing
• Ensure the highest quality of plant material and tag plant material as necessary
• Develop and manage procurement strategies/processes
• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers
• Approve purchase orders and confirm delivery
• Update and manage the inventory tracking systems for plant supply stock and goods associated
• Produce procurement reports as required
• Work with Design team to generate pricing guides and estimates

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with plant material procurement
• Excellent organizational skills
• General knowledge and proper care practices of trees/shrubs/perennials
• Horticultural degree is a plus
• Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a high energy environment
• Excellent communication skills - oral and written
• Confident, motivated, a team player with a positive attitude
