Purchasing Supervisor supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Supervisor collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Supervisor performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Purchasing Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • Ford Component Sales, LLC (FCS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company aligned with the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD). We are a flexible sales organization that directs resources toward revenue opportunities identified by FCSD.  

    We are in search of a Purchasing Supervisor that Directs and coordinates activities of purchasing, and part supply personnel engaged in procurement and distribution of Ford Component Sales parts and assemblies.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS   

    • Leads and manages a Purchasing team including Buyers and Analysts by coaching, establishing performance metrics and processes and administering the performance review process
    • Ensures use and implementation of company Purchasing policy
    • Develops plans to improve and maintain positive vendor relationships.
    • Monitor and improve departmental and individual performance, including designing and implementing reports that will provide the necessary information.  Activities include, but are not limited to, on-time delivery, cost, receipt maintenance activity, late order and back order performance. 
    • Lead identification and implementation of process improvement efforts.
    • Follows Ford Purchasing Manual as it relates to departmental procedures.  
    • Analyzes, monitors and improve supplier performance.
    • Directs and supervises supplier development activity. 
    • Leads activities within the company that will improve the working relationship with the supply base. 
    • Insures that supplier performance is reported to the suppliers and an action plan is implemented to correct any deficiencies.  
    • Interviews and makes hiring decisions of departmental employees.
    • Prepares departmental budgets.
    • Coordinates with sales on supply issues.  
    • Coordinates regular communication and activities with supplier base.  
    • Other duties assigned as appropriate.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and/or four to ten years related experience and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
