  • POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the QA & Compliance Analyst, the candidate will be responsible to ensure all affiliated processing plants in the western U.S. adhere to food safety guidelines, USDA regulations, state standards, customer certification requirements, and maintenance of Good Manufacturing Practices. A primary function will be to audit facilities during visits (in person or remote) identify and notify the plant manager of deficiencies and ensure corrective actions were implemented. Oversee maintenance of SQFI system, customer certifications along with other required certification bodies are performed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Adherence and enforcement of the Company’s Quality Assurance Program.
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of plants’ SQFI system.
    • Review all documentation associated with food safety and quality programs.
    • Schedule yearly SQF Audits for all affiliated processing plants.
    • Visit and audit member plants regularly.
    • Monitor SQF & USDA (regulatory) compliance
    • Ensures all product handling is compliant with GMP and SOP.
    • Verify and maintain Animal Welfare compliance with HFAC, AHC, UEP, CDFA
    • Verify and implement customer certifications
    • Monitor the use of raw materials and proper record keeping
    • Maintain SQF Practitioner status and understand SQF code.
    • Maintain customer websites by uploading current certifications upon completion of audits.
    • Ability to perform lot traceability on finished good products.
    • Ability to implement continuous improvements and methodologies pertaining to quality, compliance, and food safety.
    • Point of contact for issues related to food safety & food quality.
    • Review and approve customer product specifications, food safety & quality expectations, and shell egg programs.
    • Ensure vendor compliance with regulations.
    • Review & Maintain SQF Corporate documents.
    • Other duties as directed by QA & Compliance Analyst

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
    • Two to five years of experience in a food processing plant or manufacturing environment.
    • Extensive knowledge of quality assurance, good manufacturing practices, and industry-specific knowledge
    • Experience with HACCP, Internal Auditing, and SQF/GFSI audit standards.
    • HACCP certified preferred.
    • Efficient in Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft ERP systems.
    • Professional, courteous, organized, demonstrate initiative and the ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish language preferred.
    • Work independently, yet strong collaboration skills are required

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors, and employees.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Basic mathematical principles (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Ability to compile and analyze data.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Must be computer literate and possess proficient skill level in Microsoft applications. Ability to learn and perform functions on a variety of computer database programs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Must be able to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. The ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of different situations is essential. Must also possess the ability to problem solve and work independently. Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
