Quality Coordinator
Universal Nutrition is a leading manufacturer and marketer of sports nutrition products located in New Brunswick, NJ. We are looking for a Quality Coordinator to work on a fulltime basis. The individual will work under the direction of the QA Manager to perform various quality-focused tasks while complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The successful employee will have the opportunity to grow based on the evaluated job performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform sampling for cleaning verification in blending, coating, compression, encapsulation, and/or packaging lines.
- Document cleaning verification results as per Good Documentation Practice.
- Release finished products by reviewing production batch records with ability to navigate and use DEACOM (ERP system).
- Conduct daily review of department logs to ensure proper documentation.
- Perform daily accuracy checks on scales and metal detectors and troubleshoot the instruments when needed.
- Perform and document organoleptic examination for incoming raw materials.
- Log in and file weekly pest control reports.
- Perform daily on-the-floor monitoring to drive continuous improvement in facility operations.
- Identify and communicate any observations with QA Manager and other department supervisors.
- Support the quality team during an inspection or audit by ensuring all staff are following GMPs and SOPs.
- Support other quality staff to maintain retention samples when needed.
- Provide support for other quality functions as needed including periodic document translation, data management, and project works.
- Responsible for following safety rules, SOPs, and GMPs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Ideal candidate must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish. The candidate should have at least a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Working experience in food production operations is preferred. Internal and external training are provided.
Preferred Skills:
Eligible candidate must be able to perform repetitive tasks with precision and efficacy while responding to or notifying management of any quality issues observed in the plant. The candidate should also display the following skills:
- Attention to detail – Ability to perform routine quality-focused tasks by ensuring quality parameters are being followed and any deviation from established specifications or other GMP issues are immediately addressed or reported.
- Computer skills - Basic computer skills and familiar with the use of a computer and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ERP software (Deacom) is preferred but not required.
- Linguistic and arithmetic skills - 1) Ability to read and understand basic English, 2) Ability to write basic correspondence and proofread, 3) Ability to read and write Arabic numerals, and 4) Ability to use a calculator to perform basic arithmetic skills.
- Physical fitness – Physical demands include 1) Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching, 2) Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls, 3) Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 35 lbs., and 4) Work in an environment that is exposed to powders, chemicals, food allergens, and other potentially sensitizing substances.
