Job Summary: The Director of Quality Assurance and Safety will develop, implement, and evaluate a program to ensure the organization’s production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization.

Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directs and oversees the quality assurance and safety department and supervisory staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Build the team and role structure, create KPIs and success metrics.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance
- Implement strategies for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards.
- Administers an organizational quality management system and monitors progress against strategic quality-related goals.
- Collects data that assists in the identification of potential quality failures, evaluates quality of raw materials or components, in-progress goods, processes, operations, and develops and implements corrective actions.
- Works with production group or engineers to evaluate production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and supply chain to draft and integrate quality standards.
- Develops and implements quality standard testing and evaluation processes.
- Facilitates communication among production sites and management.
Safety Management
- Create and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for employees.
- Oversee safety training programs and initiatives to educate staff on best practices and promote a culture of safety consciousness.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-misses, and develop preventative measures to mitigate future risks.
Continuous Improvement
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, enhance product quality, and minimize safety risks.
- Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in quality and safety performance.
- Solicits internal and external feedback with the goal of continuously improving processes or products.
- Assesses test results and approves recommended changes.
- Reviews quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance.
- Conducts random inspections and quality control checks
Regulatory Compliance
- Stays updated on industry regulations, standards, and best-practices related to quality assurance and safety.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards and collaborate with regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
- Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education, experience, certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related industrial, scientific, or business field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8 - 10 years' of related experience required, with at least five years as a quality engineer or similar role highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and methodologies.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- 25% travel required to Stratus facilities and third party manufacturers/vendors.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
