Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. As a QA Engineer at Go Local Interactive, you will be responsible for reviewing code for accuracy, ensuring the functionality of websites, and ensuring that client expectations are met. Your role will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality web development projects to our clients and maintaining the reputation of our organization.
Job Expectations
1. Code Review: Thoroughly review web development code to ensure accuracy, adherence to coding standards, and best practices. Identify and report any coding errors, bugs, or issues, and collaborate with developers to rectify them promptly. GLI’s tech stack is primarily a LAMP stack with heavy usage of Laravel and WordPress.
2. Website Functionality Testing: Conduct comprehensive testing of website functionality, including but not limited to navigation, forms, links, multimedia content, and interactive elements. Verify that all components and features of the website are working as intended and meet the specified requirements.
3. Compatibility Testing: Test the website across various browsers, devices, and platforms to ensure compatibility and optimal performance. Identify any inconsistencies or display issues and provide suggestions for resolving them.
4. Client Expectation Management: Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, and clients to understand project requirements and client expectations. Ensure that the final product aligns with the agreed-upon specifications and meets or exceeds the client's expectations.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports documenting issues, bugs, and improvements discovered during the quality assurance process. Communicate findings to the development team and provide clear instructions for addressing identified issues.
6. Test Planning and Execution: Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure comprehensive coverage of website functionality. Execute tests based on established plans and update test documentation as necessary.
7. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest web development technologies, best practices, and industry trends. Provide recommendations for process improvements, quality assurance methodologies, and tools that can enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the development process.
8. Develop Internal Code QA processes: Use testing suites to further develop GLI’s internal QA processes.
Job Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a Web Developer or Web Developer QA in a professional setting.
2. Proficiency in using testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies to conduct quality assurance and ensure website functionality (e.g., PHPUnit Selenium, Cypress, etc).
3. Baseline knowledge of web development languages, frameworks, and technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.). Intimate knowledge of the aforementioned programming languages is a plus.
4. Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility testing and responsive design principles.
5. Solid understanding of web development best practices, coding standards, and industry guidelines.
6. Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
8. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
9. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools.
10. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
