WHAT TO EXPECT
The Quality Technician will be responsible for testing of incoming and processed materials against quality specifications, as well as providing specialized technical support to engineers and operations for final product characteristics. The Quality Technician may be required to complete verifications of process set-ups and changeovers, and assist in trouble-shooting production issues. He/she analyzes data collected through testing, comparing product data to specifications, and provides alerts to key personnel when trending or nonconformances are observed. Quality Technicians are required to work together, often on short notice, to fill in for absences, vacation, etc. on other shifts. This position is a critical part of Columbia plant's focus on meeting the needs of the customer. Plant metrics associated with the position are: cost of poor quality, customer incidents, defective PPM, and internal scrap.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs quality tests/inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc. at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.

Review and analyzes SPC charts

Analyzes data and writes summaries to validate or show deviations from existing standards.

Recommends modifications to existing, or suggest new, standards, methods and procedures.

Other tasks or duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.
ABOUT YOU
-
Associates Degree in a technical/scientific field (math, computers, science engineering) with related experience.

Prefer 3 years' experience in manufacturing, laboratory setting or quality assurance
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-
Ability to operate under limited supervision, independently determining approach to completing assignments.

Ability to handle varied and moderately complex assignments
-
Decision-making involves compiling and organizing information from a variety of sources and using judgment in applying internal guidelines and procedures

May provide training, guidance and work direction for less senior technicians

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to perform mathematical calculations

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and problem solving skills

Ability to work successfully in a team environment

Ability to follow standardized procedures

Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control

Working knowledge of Windows-based PC, and MS Office
