    Position Purpose

    To maintain and improve the Eagle Claw product line by ensuring all goods are uniform as possible and minimize inconsistencies from shipping to our customers.


    Knowledge/Skills & Experience

    • Possess basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills to utilize the computer system and compile information.
    • Able to pay attention to detail and enter data accurately into the system.
    • Must have good visual acuity to read small lettering on prints and to detect flaws in all products.
    • Able to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
    • Able to read, understand and follow the current process and procedures including specification documents such as hook drawings.
    • Capable of using calipers, micrometers, scales; pull tester, pallet jack and safety equipment.
    • Must be able to read product prints and other specification documents, utilize the computer and the material tracking system, and compile information for statistical purposes.
    • Up to 12 months of previous quality inspection experience preferred.
    • High school graduate or equivalent.


    Essential Duties

    • Perform inspections to determine acceptance or rejection of parts and products.
    • Transfer parts to the proper location according to status using the Company database.
    • Move boxes of product into inspection area and out to a predetermine location using a pallet jack.
    • Maintain records of rejected products according to the Non-Conformance procedure.
    • Communicate effectively with all members of the Material Review Board when necessary to obtain disposition of the non-conforming parts and products.
    • Perform audits of packaged and in-process hooks to determine if defects are present.
    • Perform audits of goods to ensure product is correct and quantity is verified and labeled accurately.
    • Submit samples to Research & Development Lab for testing when abnormalities are present, or properties seem suspicious.
    • Responsible for In-Process Inspection and Incoming Inspection as assigned:
    • In-Process Inspection
      • Inspect and determine disposition for all H-level hooks after heat treat process.
      • Inspect and determine disposition for all F-level hooks after finishing process.
      • Communicate with the Finishing Manager, Operators and Chemical Lab Technician if finishing for hooks does not meet quality standards.
      • Collect and maintain weekly samples for Research &Development Lab to test.
    • Incoming inspection
      • Inspect all goods received from outside vendors to ensure goods meet specifications and quality standards.
      • Work with warehouse personnel to ensure good product flow and communication between the two departments.
      • Check retail/packaging labels by scanning UPC’s and Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) to ensure all products are correct.
    • Observes all department and/or Company safety and good housekeeping regulations by sweeping floor, maintaining clean work area, disposing of empty boxes and keeping empty skids stacked in a safe location.
    • Additional duties as assigned.


    Physical Demands and Working Conditions

    • Able to stand and/or walk for duration of the shift (up to 10 hours per day).
    • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
    • Able to use pallet jacks to pull weights in excess of 1,000 lbs.
    • Able to work near oils, chemicals, and some noise from production machines.
    • Able to function in temperature changes from -10° F to 110° F when working in the warehouse.
    • May be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and hearing protection, and participate in hearing conservation program.
    • Able to reach upward and outward and overhead and to push, pull and lift materials.
    • Able to bend, stoop and twist to remove and/or place boxes of hooks on skids.
    • Must be mentally alert to the constant use of heavy equipment and forklift traffic.

    Equipment Used

    Calipers, computers, feeler gauges, micrometers, pallet jack, pliers, protractors, scales, and safety equipment.
