Being a Quality Control Inspector records observations and may make recommendations for improving processes. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Quality Control Inspector typically reports to a supervisor. The Quality Control Inspector may require 0-1 year of general work experience. The Quality Control Inspector oversees the inspection of all perishable products throughout the duration of the distribution process to include, receiving, storage, and shipment in accordance with Save Mart’s established quality standards. The position partners with the Procurement, Warehouse and Total Loss teams to accurately report the quality and safety of merchandise.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
· Ensure Save Mart’s established quality standards are met at the time of receipt and shipment of perishable commodities through effective inspection of quality, temperature and freshness.
· Review, monitor and report product inventory through visual inspection and system generated inspection.
· Report the product quality, product age, inventory status and product rejection to the Procurement Team.
· Responsible for the banana ripening process, to include maintenance and monitoring of the Banana ripening rooms, purchasing, ripening and deviation protocols, and inventory management
· Maintain and monitor food safety controls and processes in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
· Purchase, ripen, and inventory management of banana products.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
