    This job posting is for the full-time position of Quality Control Inspector with ASAP Metal Fabricators, a sheet-metal manufacturing job shop in Yakima, WA. Pay will be DOE.

    This position is responsible for inspecting metal products to print as it is processed through the shop and finished product before shipping to customer. This includes inspection of non-conforming product returned by customer, and completing daily production reports and data entry.

    This role may be asked to assist in other areas as required. This is a small business and a small team, and sometimes we must help out elsewhere when necessary.

    Here are some details:

    Typical Responsibilities
    ● Performs complete layout inspection by measuring dimensions, such as length, height, and distance, between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and Faro Arm, to ensure product meets specifications.
    ● Able to locate reference point(s) on part and measure dimension such as angle, arc, and radii, using combinations of aids, such as surface plate parallel bars, angle plates, gauge blocks, plug pins, V blocks, sine bars, and precision measuring instruments such as height gage.
    ● Performs verification on Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing products.
    ● Visually compares work pieces against one another to assess/detect manufacturing variations in processes.

    ● Document recurring quality issues, communicate with the team and the customer as needed.
    ● Assists and/or trains operators on part visual acceptability, and measurement and process procedures as required.
    ● Reports quality problems or findings to Quality Manager and follows up to ensure that corrective action takes place.
    ● Maintains record of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
    ● Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
    ● Follow all company rules and policies
    ● Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
    ● Follow all safety rules and quality standards
    ● Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
    ● Maintain communication with lead welder, supervisor, engineer, or project manager to overcome obstacles, time consumption and to produce the best quality efficiently

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
    The ideal candidate will have:
    ● Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
    ● Ability to interpret blueprints.
    ● Understanding of Math, Geometry, Trigonometry.
    ● Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
    ● Flexibility based on plant production schedules.
    ● A minimum of one-year experience using computers and measuring instruments.
    ● Experience with Inspection and Measurement is a pre-requisite for this position.

    Preferred Experience
    ● Two years minimum experience or training
    ● Metal fabrication background

    The business operates on a 40-hour workweek. Overtime is discouraged, but may occasionally be required. Standard hours of operation are:
    ● Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
