Quality Control Supervisor oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Establishes inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process. Being a Quality Control Supervisor recommends changes in specifications of materials, parts, and products based on inspection results. May formulate and revise quality control policies and procedures. Additionally, Quality Control Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.   • Quality Control Technician will manage the lumber recovery and grade recovery performances of the site while ensuring the final product meets Vicksburg Forest Products grade specifications and satisfies customer requirements. You will work closely with the management team to improve the profitability of the plant and will manage and control the parameters and set-up of all optimized equipment.

    What You’ll Do

    • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
    • Ability to work well on a team and communicate amongst teammates, production, and/or supervisor when issues arise that need to be addressed.
    • Ability to adhere to a structured quality schedule to ensure the mill runs smoothly and produces quality products.
    • Have a solid understanding of the sawmill process with the ability to troubleshoot lumber quality issues and make appropriate recommendations to operations team.
    • Ability to understand machine centers on the saw line and make necessary and appropriate offsets/adjustments to improve quality. Work with HMIs and PLCs.
    • Applying problem solving methods to identify root causes and eliminate failures.
    • Perform audits on the process that identify when the process is in or out of specification.
    • Ability to document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs.
    • Must be available and willing to work additional days or stay late if calibrations or additional quality checks are deemed necessary.

    What You Offer

    • Minimum high school diploma and preferably post-secondary degree in a related field.
    • Understanding of lumber manufacturing principles and processes considered a strong asset.
    • Experience in optimization technology.
    • Strong computer skillset with a proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Commitment to high Safety and Environmental Standards.
    • Detailed practical knowledge of lumber grading rules and practices.
    • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    Environmental Conditions:

    • Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
