Quality Control Supervisor oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Establishes inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process. Being a Quality Control Supervisor recommends changes in specifications of materials, parts, and products based on inspection results. May formulate and revise quality control policies and procedures. Additionally, Quality Control Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. Job Summary: Inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Performs 1st piece inspection on manufactured parts by using measuring equipment required per the quality plan. Document all findings on inspection paperwork. Ensures all inspections/tests specified by the Quality Plans have been carried out using the most recent documents issued for the job, verifies the results are acceptable and the records of inspection are complete. Affix's a "Green" accept tag to the 1st pc, then approves in ERP.
2. Perform in process inspection for all internal operations. Audits internal manufacturing processes to assure compliance to standards and general work practices.
3. Customer reporting via specific portals with sign in credentials.
4. If "nonconforming" product is found the Inspector stops production if appropriate while nonconformance is investigated. Contains suspect lots and tags suspect material using the Hold Tag. Together with the person reporting the nonconformance, completes a DMR and notifies the Quality and Operations Manager.
5. Follows up and re-inspects reworked material obtains verification that disposition and salvage actions are adequate to resolve the nonconformance and closes out the DMR.
6. Before shipment of any product, performs the final inspection per the Quality Plan and completes the Final Inspection Report. Ensures all inspections/tests specified by the Quality Plans have been carried out using the most recent documents issued for the job, verifies the results are acceptable and the records of inspection are complete, prior to authorizing shipment. Prepares Shipping Authorization and authorizes shipment per instructions. Compiles all records for the shipment per instructions and files in designated area. Issues a move ticket and forwards shipments and documentation to the shipping department.
7. Responsible for kitting all gaging required per job. Verifies calibration date and accuracy of gages issued to the production floor. Gage sheet sign off and records must be filed.
8. Responsible for the return of all gages. Gage sheet is pulled from file and gages are checked off and put back in Vidmar Cabinet per Gage TraK.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be proficient with all standard mechanical measuring instruments including optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines and other measuring and testing equipment. Must be proficient with standard mechanical drawings and Geometric Tolerancing is required.
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by Department Supervisor or Management Team member.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, mechanical drawings and standards. The ability to communicate findings and results to employees.
