Quality Generalist Manager develops and administers policies and procedures for evaluating and improving the quality of products, materials, components and/or manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations to ensure production runs meet established quality standards and predicted yields. Being a Quality Generalist Manager ensures employees follow established procedures and complete quality assurance work within time and budgetary constraints. May be responsible for ensuring products meet international quality standards such as ISO 9001. Additionally, Quality Generalist Manager works across a variety of quality assurance disciplines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Quality Generalist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Quality Generalist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     A quality professional with exceptional managerial and quality tool application experience will be committed to enhancing our world-class standards of product and process quality.

    Essential Functions:

    • Ability to understand the business and apply the quality effort in ways that truly enhance the business.
    • Ability to identify meaningful results-based QOS style metrics and drive organization to continually improve the key metrics.
    • Use of fact-based data to drive appropriate internal actions to prevent external issues at the customer.
    • Ability to develop strong working relationships with key customers.
    • Ability to identify risks related to the business processes and implement sound corrective actions.
    • Excellent practical, working knowledge of key quality tools and how to lead teams in application of the tools to drive improvement and/or solve problems.
    • Ability to understand, develop, and implement a meaningful cost of quality initiative that drives improvement in prevention activities ultimately leading to reduced appraisal cost and reduced overall quality costs.
    • Perform strong leadership role relative to quality in the plant and initiate development plants to enhance skills sets of Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians through practical application of quality tools to drive improvement in our products, processes, and systems.
    • Enhance Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) systems demonstrated through solid teamwork with the ME team leading to more effective, prevention-based Quality Assurance.
    • Ability to work with other division plants/division headquarters to productively participate in best-practice sharing activities.

    Education and Training

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, business or related field required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Quality Professional with minimum 5 years implementing effective Quality Management Systems in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proven leadership role in a manufacturing related field required
    • IATF 16949 and/or QS9000/ISO9001 experience preferred.
    • Proven usage of poka-yoke and statistical methods to assure quality.
    • Experience leading effective APQP activities such as D/PFMEA.
    • Experience with processes (machining, welding, forming, assembly), products and/or industry highly desirable.
    • Sound understanding of principles of GD&T.
    • Ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple responsibilities, projects and results-based activities.
    • Ability to effectively improve skill sets of quality department personnel and delegate, where appropriate
    • American Society for Quality Certified Engineer and/or Six Sigma Black Belt desirable.

     

    Physical Demands

    • Constant sitting and grasping
    • Occasional driving, grasping and pinching
    • Minimal standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing and reaching
    • Lift up to 25 lbs.
    • Carry up to 15 lbs. approximately 25 feet
    • Push/Pull 10 lbs. of force 5 feet
    • Travel to other Hendrickson plant, conferences/meetings, suppliers, and customers on as-needed basis

    • Work Environment: Office/Administrative with daily interaction on the manufacturing floor
    • Lighting: Adequate
    • Temperature: Temperature Controlled with AC/Heat.
