Quality Generalist Manager develops and administers policies and procedures for evaluating and improving the quality of products, materials, components and/or manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations to ensure production runs meet established quality standards and predicted yields. Being a Quality Generalist Manager ensures employees follow established procedures and complete quality assurance work within time and budgetary constraints. May be responsible for ensuring products meet international quality standards such as ISO 9001. Additionally, Quality Generalist Manager works across a variety of quality assurance disciplines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Quality Generalist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Quality Generalist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     SUMMARY:
    The Manager & Head of Quality plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Management Representative according to IATF16949 requirements, including representing the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing IATF16949 requirements.
    • Ensures that a quality system is established, implemented, and maintained according to the IATF16949 standard.
    • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
    • Reports on the performance of the quality system to general management for review and as a basis for improvement of the quality system.
    • Acts as a change agent within the facility. Facilitates improvements in processes.
    • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
    • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with operations management to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
    • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
    • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
    • Investigates and addresses customer complaints regarding quality.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Directly supervises 4 - 8 employees in the Quality Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
    • 2-3 years’ experience as a Quality Mgt. and 5-8 years overall quality experience, preferable some exp. in automotive
    • Experience with quality systems- APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA.
    • Customer portal experience and string problem-solving skills.
    • Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram for, and deal with abstract / concrete variables.
