    The Healthcare IT Director handles overseeing the strategy, implementation, and progression of information systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in both healthcare and information technology, with a proven track record of leading IT teams and initiatives in a hospital setting. The Director works closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure technologies meet the needs of each department as well as that of the overarching organization.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute the healthcare IT strategy in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Lead the HIT department, managing a team of IT professionals, and oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of staff.
    • Ensure the reliable and secure operation of all information systems, including electronic health records (EHR), clinical decision support systems, and telemedicine platforms.
    • Oversee the implementation of new systems and the integration of various technologies to facilitate efficient workflows within dissimilar systems.
    • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Collaborate with department heads and key stakeholders to assess and respond to IT needs, ensuring effective communication between IT and other organizational units.
    • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies along with healthcare regulations to assess their implications for the organization.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant healthcare IT regulations and standards.
    • Develop and manage the IT budget, including capital investments and operational expenses.
    • Establish and review IT policies and procedures, including disaster recovery plans and data security protocols.
    • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior leadership on IT-related matters.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science.
    • Minimum of seven years of experience in healthcare IT, with at least three years in a leadership role.
    • Strong understanding of healthcare processes and regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
    • Experience with EHR systems, health information exchanges (HIEs), and other clinical information systems.
    • Proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team of IT professionals.
    • Excellent communication and people skills, with a history of successful collaboration across departments.
    • Strong project management skills and experience managing complex IT projects.
    • Financial acumen to manage budgets and make cost-effective decisions.
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous approach to IT systems and operations.

    Compensation:

    Pay rate starts at $130,000.00/annum up to $180,000.00/annum and vary by experience and location.
