The Quality Manager will be responsible for supervising the Quality Control objectives, staff, and programs to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and all government or other regulations, with a focus on product quality, food safety expectations, and continuous improvement. The Quality Manager will be responsible for the overall product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance for the manufacturing plant.

Responsible for maintaining the company’s Quality Assurance Program at the facility according to established policies and procedures and assuring the accuracy of data. Responsible for the monitoring and auditing of product quality and compliance. Ensures compliance with all company, state, federal and international safety and regulatory policies and practices as appropriate.

Responsible for actively supporting root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for issues related to manufacturing process and/or product quality.

Participates in visual and physical audit of product and/or material to ensure conformance to established standard of quality, appearance, and other specified requirements.

Maintains a preventative quality system, specification compliance, approved supplier program, food safety training and development, quality testing of ingredients and/or finished products, labeling, complaint handling, and communication with sales and plant personnel regarding quality program trends, issues, and opportunities according to established policy and procedures.

Promotes and supports the concept of continuous quality improvement and utilizes applicable techniques.

Supports overall quality training up to and including on boarding of new employees, and quarterly and annual training.

Recruits, directs, coaches, leads, and supervises all QA personnel constantly raising the standard of performance.

Establishes quality related education and development programs for employees including SOP’s, quality specifications, safety, and job expectations.

Researches and provides analytical results on customer complaints in a timely manner. Interacts with customers as needed on complaint investigation and resolution.

Maintains quality programs such as HACCP, BRC certification, FSMA food safety plan, specifications for raw and finished materials, recall program, environmental monitoring program, and comprehensive pest control program.

Monitor product microbiological and analytical product results. Put product on hold and perform immediate investigation if any deviations from specifications are found.

Documents and records product quality issues, including photographs, and completes appropriate follow up.

Responsible for maintaining Organic, Kosher, and Halal certification.
- Accompanies inspectors during FDA, BRCGS, WDATCP, and customer audits.
- Conducts internal, vendor and contract manufacturing audits as required.

Works with chemical suppliers to monitor cleaning effectiveness and chemical usage and costs.

Completes administrative tasks related to supervision of subordinates, including reviewing and approving timesheets and time off requests.
- Completes other related tasks as assigned.

5 years previous manufacturing QA experience. Management experience preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biology, Food Science, or another related program preferred.
- Experience in a food grade manufacturing facility preferred. Dairy processing experience preferred.

Skills in monitoring and measurement of process control, auditing, manufacturing of food products, sanitation process, knowledge of HACCP, SSOP regulations, FSMA PCQI, skills in team leadership, and root cause analysis.

Strong accuracy and attention to detail. Efficient organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while performing duties with a sense of urgency.

Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
