Position Summary:
The Materials Manager, QSC, WJO oversees the purchasing and material flow for the Quality Steel West Jordan plant operation. The Materials Manager will ensure quality materials for site operations ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery and productivity goals are achieved as well as delivering the highest levels of customer service. The Materials Manager works closely with the operations and sales teams and is a key member of the Quality Steel Supply Chain team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure material availability required to support 100% on-time-delivery.
- Develop CAPEX proposals for purchasing of equipment related to material handling (e.g. forklift). Ensure budgets are met/maintained for material handling.
- Collaborate with operations team and suppliers to resolve quality disputes to fix, return and/or resolve issues. Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of materials (releases, expedites, push-outs, pull-ins, etc.).
- Oversee and become the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAGE) expert, ensuring inventory transitions are posted. Monitor and analyze consumption trends, plan purchase-to-order, and monitor long-lead items to ensure accurate and timely materials requirements adjustments as needed.
- Issue purchase orders for incoming material.
- Negotiate pricing on incoming supplies/materials.
- Ensure cycle counts occur in a timely manner.
- Participate in continuous improvement practices and apply lean tools and methodologies in the plant.

- Lead and direct the inventory control team, managing performance by setting goals and coaching and developing team members in “How we Lead” to achieve results and reinforce the positive culture.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure consistent development and alignment of all demand and supply planning.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain or production planning in manufacturing.
- Strong computer skills, experience with ERP systems required.
- Experience in production control or order scheduling required.
- Experience with continuous improvement and lean management preferred.

Education and Certification Qualifications:

Travel
