Racing and Sports Manager jobs in Santa Fe, NM

JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for selling and cashing betting tickets for horse races and sporting events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Place wagers per customer instruction
• Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
• Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

• Must be 21 years or older
• Excellent listening skills
• Ability to place wagers accurately
• Basic math skills; cash handling experience
• Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities
• Basic computer skills
• Experience in banking, retail, or customer service helpful
• Knowledge of professional sports, sports betting terminology, bet types and rules helpful
• Knowledge of horse racing and/or simulcast operations helpful

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• (6) months cashier experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Casino setting
• Shift work required. Must be willing to rotate shifts as needed. Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Standing 100%
• Exposure to noise and cigarette smoke
• Required to lift up to 20 lbs.
