Racing and Sports Manager manages and directs the racing and sports book daily activities. Oversees racing and sports betting and ensures compliance with federal and state gaming regulations. Being a Racing and Sports Manager may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Racing and Sports Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Under general direction of the Tourism Manager, the Sports Manager directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Sports Division within the City’s Economic Development & Tourism Department and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Economic Development and/or Tourism Manager. Responsibilities include overall administration and implementation of assigned division including development of division objectives and design and implementation of supporting units, programs, processes, policies, and/or procedures to successfully achieve program initiatives.
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration, Hospitality, or a field related to area of assignment and five (5) years of experience related to area of assignment, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Driver’s License. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field. Five (5) years supervisory experience.
