Radiation Physicist ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment and the protection of patients and staff from radiation. Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment, conducts X-ray machine performance surveys, and implements procedures to ensure quality control for electronic imaging devices. Being a Radiation Physicist recommends radiation safety procedures. Informs staff in radiation safety practices. Additionally, Radiation Physicist may require an advanced degree of radiation physics. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Radiation Physicist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. This is a TPD (0.2 Status), day shift Radiation Therapist position in the Radiation Oncology Department.
Provides radiation therapy services by contributing as an essential member of radiation oncology treatment team. Responsible for performing accurate delivery of prescribed radiation therapy under direction of Radiation Oncologist, using a variety of complex techniques and equipment. Shares and coordinates key information with other members of healthcare team. Performs radiation therapy procedures on all patients served to include pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Participates in on-call rotations.
Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy. Two (2) years of recent radiation experience. Current Montana licensure. Registered in Radiation Therapy by American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT). Must obtain BLS for Healthcare Provider within 90 days of employment.
Preferred / Desired: Prefer three (3) or more years of full time, professional experience as a radiation therapist.
