Job Description

Senior Radiation Protection Specialist will provide technical support for radiation safety functions at the Department of Energy (DOE) Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Site and support the DOE's Portsmouth Paducah Project Office (PPPO), for Enterprise Technical Assistance Services Inc. (ETAS) under the PPPO Technical Support contract. In this role the specialist supports the surveillance and technical support of a compliant and robust radiation protection safety program, including developing and recommending processes and changes to operations to reflect the DOE's radiation safety programs.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering from an accredited college or university and ten years' experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of health physics and radiation protection theory and practice, the measurement and analysis of ionizing radiation and radioactivity, radiation protection standards and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of shielding design techniques and dose assessments methodologies, effects of radiation on tissues, nuclear and atomic physics, research with radionuclides, ALARA principles, and experimental techniques are required.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art instrumental and spectrometric techniques.
• Familiarity with computer applications in dosimetry, shielding, spectrometry, and database management.
• Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and client personnel.

• DOE experience
• Nuclear facility experience
• D&D, D&R, S&M project experience

Federal Government Clearance:

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
