Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Under general supervision, the Medical Dosimetrist provides dosimetry support for the radiation oncology department in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Trident Health System. The job will also include participation in morning meetings, weekly chart review, participation in process improvements and other responsibilities as required by management.
In collaboration with the physicians, director, physicist, radiation therapist and patients they will perform the following tasks:
What Qualifications you may need:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) certified or currently eligible MDCB certification. BLS – Healthcare provider.
Experience: Previous dosimetry experience required. ARRT registered Radiation Therapy background preferred.
Education: Graduate of an accredited program with a certificate or degree in Dosimetry or Radiation Therapy. Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
