Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. They are responsible for setting up the patients in the correct treatment position to deliver radiation precisely to the targeted area. Essential Job Functions: Delivers radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescription and standard operating procedures and completes all required documentation. Executes the precise positioning of the patient with: respect to radiation beam and treatment area. Observes and assesses patient for clinical changes and reports signs of complications. Applies principles of basic radiation physics, radiation interactions and radiation protection, i.e., wears radiation film badge. Completes Quality Assurance tracking, records results and assists in maintaining records. Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. Certifications: Radiation Therapy - Certification | North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources Radiation Therapy - Certification | American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) | Prior to Start Date preferred but open to someone who will obtain the cert within 6 months | HR Primary Sources Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 Days of Start Date | Learning Management System. Schedule: 8am-4:30pm initially, Monday-Friday. Once trained, 6:30am-3pm, Monday-Friday. No holiday work and no weekend work required.
