Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Being a Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II typically requires graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program, certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a physician or manager. The Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE 
    Under general technical direction, and with some latitude for the exercise of initiative and judgment, performs a wide variety of highly skilled technical assignments in support of the scientific and professional staff. Work assignments are usually on a specific task basis, requiring a high degree of proficiency in technical skills and techniques in such areas as evaluation, testing, operation, maintenance, or construction of equipment. May direct and coordinate the work efforts of other technical support personnel assigned to a specific project.  

    JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 
    • Calibrate radiation protection instrumentation per written procedures. 
    • Troubleshoot & repair RP instruments which may require the use of common hand tools or a soldering iron. 
    • Document calibration and repair work, including writing or updating the procedures as needed. 
    • Implement and monitor the telemetry devices. 
    • Maintain the Instrument and Respiratory programs.  
    • Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.  
    • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO), including maintaining the ability to respond to assigned emergency facility within the times prescribed in the Emergency Plan when on-call. 
    • Ensures assigned tasks are performed as safely and efficiently as possible.  
    • Proposes time saving tooling and work methods.  

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
    Minimum education required of the position:
    • High school diploma, technical training in the specific field, or equivalent work experience.  
    Minimum experience required of the position:
    • Four years of experience working with Nuclear Radiation Protection Instrumentation.
    Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position: 
    • Have a strong understanding of RP instrumentation theory.
