    Position Title: Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT)

    Reports to: Program Management Analyst 

    Location: Seattle, WA

    Employment Status: Full-Time

    FLSA Status: Exempt 

    Position Summary: Aldevra is currently seeking a qualified Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) responsible for administering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation; using advanced linear accelerators i.e., Elekta or Varian treatment units, record and verify Treatment Management System (TMS) such as MOSAIQ or ARIA, as well as simulating patients in CT-SIM scanner, in accordance with radiation oncologists’ instructions.

    This position is contingent upon contract award.

       

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reviews and verifies patient’s treatment plans and treatment machine parameters as part of a “timeout” and quality audit prior to the first treatment and daily quality checks.
    • Performs quality assurance warm-up tests on treatment units and simulators and reports any deficiencies to supervisor and/or physicist
    • Positions patients accurately on the treatment table according to protocols
    • Obtains required electronic portal images during the prescribed course of treatment according to department standards. These images could include but are not limited to MV or kV portal images, kV CBCT
    • Recognizes emergency patient conditions and assists and/or initiates first aid or basic life support when appropriate
    • Maintains electronic charts for patients’ setups and treatments using MOSAIQ or ARIA, as well as Computerized Patient Record System.
    • Coordinates at all times with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists’ colleagues, nurses, social worker, Cancer Navigation Team, and patient’s family to accommodate and facilitate the best treatment course for the patient.

    Requirements

    Security Requirements: (if applicable)

    • Must be able to obtain VA PIV badge.  
    • Follow Privacy Act of 1974
    • Other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy must be followed. 

    This position requires passing an extensive background check.

    Qualifications:

    • At least 1 year of experience as RTT
    • Successfully completed a program in therapeutic radiologic technology, evidenced by a certificate or an associate’s or higher degree accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology or other accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the subsequent completion of a 12-month ED accrediting body-approved program in therapeutic radiologic technology.
    • Meet the credentialing standards in 42 C.F.R. Part 75
    • Must be certified in therapeutic radiologic technology by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T)).
    • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers
    • Knowledge in specialized areas of therapeutic radiologic technology including therapeutic radiologic treatments, simulation, mold room, treatment planning, medical dosimetry, total body irradiation as well as brachytherapy procedures
    • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods. Some bending and moderate lifting is done to fill film cassettes, place treatment devices, lift treatment machine accessories such as electron applicators or physical wedges , and transfer patients from one location to another. All lifting must be done using proper lifting techniques
    • Valid driver's license
    • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
    • Excellent and accurate written communication
    • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
    • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry
    • Customer Focused and team-oriented work ethic
    • Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality
