Radiologic Technologist performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. Positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Being a Radiologic Technologist develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. Additionally, Radiologic Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Radiologic Technologist works under moderate supervision. Under the direction of the Imaging Coordinator/Director, provides patient services using imaging modalities. Performs radiographic procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Maintains patient confidentiality.
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program, or equivalent. Certification by the American Registry of Radiographic Technologist, or equivalent. Competency in components of radiography practice as appropriate. Valid state licensure. Must have valid CPR Certification.
Must be computer-literate to complete task(s) as required. Such as MediTech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (Performance Appraisal System), Relias (Education System) and the ability to retrieve e-mails, complete online enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned
