Positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Being a Radiologic Technologist develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. Additionally, Radiologic Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Radiologic Technologist works under moderate supervision. Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as
evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such
reports.
Provides radiologic services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, using
knowledge/skills unique to the requirements of each age group to ensure optimal
patient care.
Develops film including evaluating film for technical quality.
Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient’s cooperation during the
examination.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensures
quality images.
Obtains patient history, answers patient questions and explains the procedure.
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room.
Maintains darkroom chemistry levels in replenishment tank.
Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency,
health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
Performs the duties of CAT Scan Technologist as needed.
Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative
maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major
malfunctions.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Enhances professional growth, and development through participation in educational programs,
current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
