Radiologic Technologist jobs in Killeen, TX

Radiologic Technologist performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. Positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Being a Radiologic Technologist develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. Additionally, Radiologic Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Radiologic Technologist works under moderate supervision.     • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.
    • Assist the organization in incorporating the guiding principles into its radiology practice.
    • Ascertain the delivery of patient care is provided in a personalized, professional and quality manner.
    • Ascertain that Joint Commission, local, state and federal accrediting and licensing bodies’ requirements are met.
    • Ascertain that the delivery of patient care is compliant with the accrediting and regulatory agencies.
    • Assist in the Quality Assurance / Improvement Program of Imaging Services.
    • Perform quality control on equipment and notifies management immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.
    • Adhere to appropriate radiation safety, practicing the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
    • Explain diagnostic x-ray procedure to the patient and/or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
    • Perform diagnostic x-ray examinations to include routine, fluoroscopic, portable and surgical procedures.
    • Ascertain appropriate radiographic parameters (MAS, KVP, positioning, etc.) are utilized, providing physician with a quality radiographic image.
    • Document digital image with appropriate radiographic identification markers.
    • Enter and retrieve patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) in a proficient manner.
    • Enter and retrieve patient information from the Hospital Information System (HIS) in a proficient manner.
    • Provide minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Seek additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.
    • Transport patients to and from Imaging Services ascertaining that the patient is relocated without injury or incident.
    • Prepare and maintain department paperwork, verifying accuracy of information.
    • Ascertain that the delivery of patient care and billing are compliant with the accrediting and regulatory agencies.
    • Ascertain that patient charges are entered correctly.
    • Release patient information in accordance with policies and procedures and accrediting and regulatory agencies.
    • Answer telephones in a courteous and professional manner within three (3) rings.
    • Schedule patient examinations according to departmental procedures.
    • Maintain x-ray procedure rooms and work area in a clean and organized manner.
    • Any other duty that may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
    • Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R)
    • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a General Medical Radiologic Technologist (GMRT)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
