Job Title: Radiology Supervisor
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Radiology Manager, the Radiology Supervisor is responsible for planning and overseeing all operational aspects and activities for assigned sections/modalities, locations, and support areas. While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, the major responsibilities are supervising all day-to-day operations including the delivery of care, patient satisfaction, human resource management, equipment oversight and process improvement activities. In addition to daily supervision, this individual will participate in planning efforts involving space, equipment, staff, systems, services, supplies, budgeting and financial management and future programs and services. The Supervisor is a positive, effective member of the Radiology management team, fostering a customer/patient focused perspective and ensuring a strong commitment to organizational service standards. The individual maintains collaborative multi-disciplinary relationships within and outside of the organization. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.
Essential Functions:
- Briefs applicants and/or new employees on the overall job requirements, policies, and work procedures.
- Counsels employees on unsatisfactory performance and/or work behavior.
- Administers formal disciplinary action.
- Assists with formal performance evaluations and receives feedback on employee performance from others.
- Assigns work duties and responsibilities to subordinate staff.
- Approves time off and prepares work schedules to assure proper staff coverage
- Keeps time records and submits proper information to the payroll department
- Overtime authorization and management.
- Oversees staffs’ ongoing commitment to being patient-focused and to complying with all performance and service standards.
- Assists the Radiology Manager with interviewing, hiring, supervising, training, and appraisal of performance of clinical staff.
- Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
- Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
- Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
- Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter. Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
- Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
- Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
- Completes and attends monthly training assigned.

Collaboration/Teamwork:
- Interacts with technologists, nurses, clerical support staff, radiologists, and others throughout the course of the day to address and resolve the many different issues that impact the provision of services.
- Functions as a liaison between physicians and staff, explaining departmental policies and procedures, resolving problems, and coordinating activities, which affect patient care.
- Collaborates with managers, directors, and other supervisors to establish management standards for productivity, patient care, employee performance, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
- Attends staff meetings; follows HIPAA guidelines; follows patient rights policy; complies with the compliance program; demonstrates knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrates knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; working knowledge of hospital emergency codes; always utilizes standard precautions in the clinical setting; safely manages the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of the requirements of the: Life Safety program, Utilities Management program, Hazardous Materials program, Emergency Preparedness program, Safety Management program, Medical Equipment Management program, Security Management program.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Three (3) years of relevant clinical experience
- One (1) year of relevant clinical experience in a leadership role
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
- A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Certified American Registry of Radiology Technologists, ARRT, required.
- Current Basic Life Support, BLS, from the American Heart Association, AHA, required.
- Fluoroscopy (Fluoro) Certification/Licensure/Permit for state of employment, preferred.
