Radiology Director directs and coordinates activities of a radiology or diagnostic imaging department in a hospital or other medical facility. Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Being a Radiology Director oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or MRI equipment. Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff. Additionally, Radiology Director demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with regulatory requirements. Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures regarding operations and staffing and, the purchasing of radiology supplies. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Radiology Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Radiology Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services, Inc, is seeking a Director of Radiology to oversee an entire radiology department. The director will direct and coordinate activities of a radiology or diagnostic imaging department. review work schedules and assign duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, mammography and ultrasound.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

     

    • Greets patients by confirming patient identification, reviewing imaging request, checking for special instructions, confirming anticipated service with patients.
    • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures, explaining equipment, answering questions
    • Conducts mammography study by positioning breasts; adjusting compression mechanisms, instructing patient to hold breath
    • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing protection techniques
    • Maintains production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; developing mammograms; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as   required; forwarding completed   studies to radiologist for interpretation and x-rays.
    • Ensures operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance; instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories
    • Keeps mammography supplies and patient drapes ready by inventorying stock; placing orders
    • Maintains safe, secure and healthy work environment
    • Must be familiar and have experience with electronic medical records. Documents patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting
    • Accountable for adherence to state and federal rules and regulations on safety and quality assurance
    • Ensures compliance with MQSA, federal, state and local agencies
    • Perform mammograms and x-rays at BJHCHS facilities  
    • Periodically reviews image quality and exam protocols
    • Maintain accurate department records, reports and files for equipment for the three clinics

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field that covers radiology
    • Three to Five years of work and managerial experiences
    • Current registration through American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and SCRQSA
    • At least 8 hours of training om 2D/3D mammogram, Hologic qualified preferred
    • Current BLS-CPR certification required
    • The ability to perform quality control procedures
    • Evaluate accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff
