Radiology Director directs and coordinates activities of a radiology or diagnostic imaging department in a hospital or other medical facility. Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Being a Radiology Director oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or MRI equipment. Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff. Additionally, Radiology Director demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with regulatory requirements. Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures regarding operations and staffing and, the purchasing of radiology supplies. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Radiology Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Purpose
The scheduling specialist is responsible for multi-modality radiology appointment scheduling by phone, fax or electronic queue for radiology outpatient exams
Essential Functions
Scheduling
· Schedule exams for multi-modality radiology appointments by phone, fax or electronic queue for outpatient exams.
· Communicates exam preparation and procedure information to patients or ordering physician offices.
· Communicates exam protocol to physicians and office staff.
· Gathers and documents pertinent patient information to ensure compliance with safety standards.
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
· Medical industry experience a plus.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to handle high call volume.
· Excellent customer relations skills.
· Must be educated on and compliant with HIPAA.
Education
· High School Degree or equivalent as a minimum.
Computer Skills
· Accurate data entry skills are required.
· Ability to learn and master various Radiology applications such as: RIS, Scriptsender, and PACS applications.
Physical Work Demands
· Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
· Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis.
· Able to speak clearly and communicate effectively.
· Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.
· In office position.
Other Work Demands
· Regular and on-time attendance.
· Must be educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
