Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet company goals and objectives
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their needs and capabilities
- Source, select, and negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best terms and conditions
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and address any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide guidance on procurement processes
- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations and company policies
- Perform root cause analysis on procurement-related issues and implement corrective actions
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels
- Oversee quality management processes to ensure products meet specifications
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with company personnel
- Minimal to moderate travel within the Midwest region
Qualifications:
-Widespread network of existing relationships within the railroad industry (ex: management, operations, Maintenance of Way, contractors, etc.)
- Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Compensation:
- Base salary of $50,000
- Commission opportunities ($0.05 for each railroad tie contracted at $2 per tie, higher rates for ties contracted above $2 per tie)
