    Education / Credentials:

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred

    Key Job Elements:

    The primary duties include and are not limited to the following:

    • Maintain a safety conscious work ethic.
    • Maneuver vehicles and other machinery around construction areas.
    • Prepares a designated site for building.
    • Utilization of construction vehicles such as tamper and regulator.
    • May assist in the construction or repair of bridges, crossings, and railways, or may build private industry structures.
    • May operate machines that dig trenches, excavate construction sites, or lift heavy equipment, grade land or pave roads.
    • Should possess acute visual perception abilities to accurately judge distances.
    • A good understanding of electronics to operate many of the newer vehicles designed with electronic controls.
    • Daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
    • Use handheld mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
    • Will obey all traffic laws, ordinances, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
    • Be familiar with federal and state regulations as they relate to the railroad industry.
    • Ability to update rules and manuals to assure continuous compliance with all railroad regulations.
    • Adhere to and promote safe work practices.
    • Effectively communicate with team members and customers.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must be able and have a willingness to work safe.
    • Previous experience operating a tamper or regulator.
    • Able to work in a team environment and individually.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, willingness to take direction.
    • Willingness to tackle new and challenging tasks.
    • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Must pass Federal background check
    • Ability to comply with FRA 219 drug program
    • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of FRA 213 rules and regulations

    Working Conditions:

    **Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions**

    **Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, on-call, nights, weekends & holidays**

    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
    • Work in all weather conditions and on all terrain, from early morning hours until late afternoon.
    • Essential physical requirements, such climbing, standing, bending, twisting and lifting.
    • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold.
    • Travel requirements as assigned.

    Pay: From $30.00 per hour
