  • We are seeking a Design Director to join our dynamic corporate design team primarily supporting Alexandria’s San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) regional and team. The incumbent will have the unique opportunity to work across all business groups providing mission-critical messaging, material, and brand awareness for both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate will be curious and excited to work on and to learn about a variety of subjects from real estate and finance to life science and investments.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and enforce the Alexandria brand and corporate branding guidelines across all material produced or edited.
    • Work closely with regional leadership, the leasing team, the development team, and others to ensure marketing collateral is aligned with campus branding and strategy.
    • Create and design high-quality, innovative, and compelling materials to support the SFBA region’s marketing and leasing initiatives from concept to completion, and provide creative input in the form of design direction, production, messaging, and delivery of presentations, marketing materials, and other collateral, including but not limited to:
      • Tenant, investor, and internal presentations
      • Financial charts, graphs, and infographics
      • Promotional items and employee communications
      • Brochures, ads, invitations, posters, and programs
      • Digital communication assets (emails, video walls, etc.)
    • Craft compelling pitch narratives for presentations with clear organization and messaging, including writing, editing, and proofing of print, digital, and other marketing materials.
    • Collaborate with senior regional leadership and key stakeholders to translate requests into effective and compelling visual formats across many deliverables for internal and external audiences.
    • Demonstrate outstanding design and project management skills:
      • Manage deadlines with the internal team and the project production needs.
      • Manage the SFBA’s regional digital asset bank.
      • Organize and manage photo and video shoots.
      • Coordinate marketing initiatives, including branding and advertising efforts.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field is preferred.
    • Background in real estate or other B2B brands is preferred; knowledge of life science industries is a plus.
    • At least 7 years of proven, practical experience.
    • Experience with Mac and/or PC platform.
    • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint required.
    • Strong professional experience with Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
    • Knowledge of Excel is a plus.
    • Expert design, layout production, and typography skills.
    • Fluency in visually compelling communication through data and charts.
    • Strong writing and editorial skills are a plus.
    • Ability to think strategically, work independently, be a self-starter, and execute projects with initiative and follow-through is critical.
    • Exceptional organizational skills (resources and prioritization).
    • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
    • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work against and meet deadlines.
    • Final-stage applicants will be asked to provide a portfolio or examples of work and presentation slides.
    • The expected base salary range for this position is $150,000 USD to $175,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
