The City of Cypress is seeking an experienced and professional Recreation Supervisor to plan, develop and coordinate a variety of recreation programs, events and activities. There is currently one vacancy in Sports and Park Facilities.
Knowledge of:
Applicable City, County, State and Federal laws, codes and regulations affecting recreation programs and activities; major sports and other recreational activities suitable for youth, adults and seniors; facility and program management; Joint Use Agreements; practices and procedures of marketing special programs and facilities; software used to design advertising, brochures, newsletters, flyers and programs; and budget process.
Ability to:
Coordinate and oversee assigned recreation activities and programs; provide supervision, training and work evaluation for staff and volunteers; involve and interest the community in the use of available facilities, activities, programs and services; accurately perceive and respond to the recreational needs of community groups and individuals; develop marketing and media policies; coordinate groundbreaking and dedication events; provide regional interaction to promote marketability of district programs to civic organizations, corporate entities and grant foundations; generate sponsorship revenue and grant revenue; establish and maintain effective working relationships with community groups, other agencies, the media and others contacted in the course of work; safely operate a motor vehicle.
Experience and Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Recreation or Public Administration, or a related field, and three years of responsible experience in the programming and delivery of recreation and leisure services for any one or a combination of adult, youth, or sports programs, including experience in a supervisory capacity.
