  • The City of Eugene’s Recreation Division is recruiting for an Inclusion Services Coordinator

Does the idea of developing and modifying inclusion and behavior support plans that really work sound like fun? Then this may be the job for you!
     
    Youth and Family Services is hiring a Recreation Programmer to coordinate inclusion services across the section. The Recreation Programmer will work with program supervisors and front-line staff to develop and implement inclusion and behavior support plans for youth in recreation programs. The Recreation Programmer will support leadership staff in implementing inclusion services through trainings, assessments, coaching and direct service. This evolving position will require the successful candidate to work with a variety of programs that will differ in delivery, expectations and supervisors. Flexibility and communication will be the keys to success.
     
    This position will be responsible for the implementation of comprehensive year-round recreation programs as assigned with an emphasis on inclusion services. They will coordinate day-to-day activities related to inclusion services within guidelines and provide lead directive over temporary staff. They will also provide a safe environment for learning in a variety of community programs.

    Salary Range: $28.58 – 37.15 Hourly / $59,446.40 – 77,272.00 Annually

    Location: Various recreation sites around Eugene, OR.
    Work Schedule: 40 hours/week. Core schedule will be between  the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday-Friday, with some evening and weekend hours as dictated by program needs.

    • Seasonal and long-term planning of inclusion services coordination across Youth and Family Services. 
    • Responds to initial requests for inclusion services, conducts assessment and required follow up.
    • Works with program supervisors and leaders to complete patron inclusion plans. 
    • Conducts assessments for inclusive recreation environments, including universal design. 
    • Designs and conducts training for temporary and regular staff across Recreation Division.
    • Provides ongoing coaching to direct service staff as needed. 
    • Supports direct service staff in ongoing implementation of support plans.
    • Implement best practices related to national trends in inclusion services, disability and behavior supports.
    • Participate in division-wide planning and decision making as it relates to inclusion services.
    • Tracks and ensures completion of inclusion services related documentation such as; assessments, observations, progress notes and incident reports.
    • Maintains a variety of program records; develops reports and statistics.
    • Assists with the development of policies and procedures for the program area.
    • Establishes and maintains good public relations and exercises diplomacy while respecting patron's rights to autonomy and confidentiality.
    • Provides information to and answers questions from the public; responds to concerns about patrons on individual support plans.
    • Provides direct inclusion support to patrons as needed.
    • Assists with the implementation of assigned day-to-day recreation program activities.
    • Participates in long range planning and development for recreation programs; develops specific recreation activities and provides suggestions and creative input; and engages community and patrons with program evaluations. 
    • Participates and provides input in hiring processes and performance evaluations for temporary employees and volunteers.
    • May be required to drive City vehicle daily.
    • Performs related and other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience:  
    • Two years of experience in the implementation of recreational, social or cultural programs and services directly related to the assigned area of responsibility; including one year of lead worker experience preferred.
    • Experience with behavior management, support plans, and advocacy preferred.
    Education/Training: 
    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, human services, or a closely related field.
    • Training in diversity, equity, inclusion, disability services, and Trauma Informed Care is preferred. 
    License or Certificate:
    • First Aid, CPR certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

    Knowledge of:
    • Principles and practices of developing and implementing recreation programs in the assigned area.
    • National and regional programming trends, current literature, and community resources for program planning and development of services.
    • Recreational, social and cultural needs of community served.
    • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, regulations and codes.
    • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
    • Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
    • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
    Ability to:
    • Plan, coordinate, organize and implement programs and services suited to the needs of patrons in assigned area.
    • Develop and evaluate activities based upon the needs of patrons.
    • Work as part of a service team to establish and promote goals of the Recreation Division and City.
    • Work directly with youth and families, involving them in planning and development of programs.
    • Provide effective supervision and coaching to regular and temporary staff.
    • Evaluate and monitor program risks and liability.
    • Monitor budget within allocation for programs and activities in assigned area.
    • Maintain and develop record keeping procedures.
    • Utilize community resources and organizational support in delivery of program services.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Organize, prioritize, and carry out responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner .
    • Effectively market programs and services.
    • Learn the operation, policy and procedures of the department.
    • Utilize modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; network and collaborate with other service agencies.
    • Exercise diplomacy in confronting and resolving conflicts and sensitive issues; respect patrons rights to autonomy and confidentiality.
    • Work independently with off-site supervision.
    • Follow written and oral instruction.
    What to Expect from our Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training.     Bilingual Pay Benefit: This benefit compensates non-represented employees up to 5% of their base salary.     Retirement Program: Upon eligibility, the City will contribute an employee contribution of 6%, as well as the employer contribution, to a retirement program administered by the Oregon Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). In addition, the City will pay a 3% contribution to a deferred compensation program if the employee contributes at least 1%.
