Job Description
Position: Summer Day Camp Counselor (Seasonal)
Responsible to: Camp Directors
Qualities Needed:
General:
Understanding of aims and objectives of day camp
Ability to work with children to grow in character, experiences, and insights
Knowledge of camp program and planning
Good attitude and ability to build relationships
Be mindful of health and well-being of campers
Specific:
At least 18 years old
Experience working with children
Ability to work in the outdoors
Be enthusiastic & dependable
Problem solving and critical thinking
Responsibilities:
General:
Work with up to 120 campers to create a safe, growing, fun camp environment
Work alongside staff in a supportive manner
Specific:
Greet campers and families upon arrival
Establish jobs, rules, and emergency procedures with campers
Accompany camp on field trips
Participate in all camp functions
Camp programming
Attend pre-camp, ongoing staff meetings and trainings
Report any suspicion of child abuse to your camp director and report to DHS
Help where needed in any area to contribute to the successful operation of camp
