40-Hour Seasonal Position
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Performs intermediate semiskilled work in the maintenance of parks and grounds; mowing, trimming, mulching, basic carpentry and mechanical repairs; related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates mowers, weed eater, tractors, paint machine and hand tools in performance of tasks.
Performs rough and finished carpentry and painting.
Transports supplies and equipment; maintains vehicle and equipment.
Paints and maintains playing fields county wide.
Cleans and maintains parks facilities; removes trash at designated parks throughout Bedford County.
Performs related tasks as required.
Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by management.
Participates in employee meetings and training as needed.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability.
Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, and reprioritizes work as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience as a semiskilled worker in grounds maintenance.
Knowledge / Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools; general knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of equipment used in landscaping and grounds maintenance; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to perform labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
