Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium (DARC) is a recreation organization that provides educational, arts, musical, sports programs to the Chester County community. Our office is located at 114 Bell Tavern Rd, Downingtown, PA. Our mission is: Shining the Light on Community Recreation and we have been in the community providing opportunities since 1993.

Role Description

This is a seasonal Summer Camp Counselor located in Downingtown, PA. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a fun and engaging experience for our campers while ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their time at camp. As a counselor you will be responsible for supervising campers, planning and leading activities, and promoting a positive and inclusive camp environment. You will have the opportunity to create unforgettable experiences and contribute to the overall success of DARC's summer camp programs.

Camp Counselors will be working with children between the ages of:

• Playground Camps: 3-11 years old
• Adventure Camps: 7-14 years old

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and engage campers in a variety of outdoor and indoor activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, and nature exploration.
• Foster positive relationships with campers, providing guidance, support, and encouragement as needed.
• Assist in planning and leading age-appropriate activities and programs that promote teamwork, creativity, and personal growth.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following camp policies and procedures.
• Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating leadership, integrity, and enthusiasm.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (18-21 preferred).
• Experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to ensure the safety and well-being of campers.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic camp environment
• Ability to pass required background checks including Child Abuse Clearance.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of camp).

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $9.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 – 40 per week

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
