Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Your job as a recreational therapist for New Wave Wellness requires that you assist your individual client with finding leisure activities to help develop and/or further develop their skills as they may pertain to their daily living and more importantly their involvement within their communities.

    You will be working closely with the individual, their immediate team members, and their community contacts to further their skills and community resources to help them achieve the highest level of independence possible.

    As a New Wave Wellness Recreational Therapist, you will be held to a higher standard to help your clients reduce depression, stress, and anxiety; recover basic physical and mental abilities; build confidence and socialize effectively.

    Interventions utilized include but are not limited to arts and crafts, dance, sports, cooking, games,  and etc...

    Requirements:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be organized
    • Possess strong documentation skills
    • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Must have Bachelor's in Recreational Therapy from an accredited program
    • Maintain CTRS Certification, CPR/AED, First Aid
    • Pass background checks including but not limited to: county background checks, criminal background checks, OIG check, sex offender background checks and CNA checks.

    Pay:

    $50-57 per hour
