Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    We are seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary health care team, providing care while promoting a safe, compassionate patient care environment. The Recreational Therapist will develop individualized plans of care to enhance patient quality of life. 

    What will you do in this role? 

    • Provides recreational/art/music/dance/movement therapy and psychoeducational services consistent with treatment plan goals 

    • Supports safe and healthy leisure and recreation, and special events 

    • Builds programming to meet the psychological, emotional, communicative, and social needs of our diverse patient population 

    • Makes ongoing evaluations of the patient’s condition and progress and the effectiveness of the treatment program  

      What qualifications will you need? 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Activities Therapy is required 

    • Master’s Degree is preferred 

    • Current certification in one of the follow is required: 

    • CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) 

    • MT-BC (Music Therapist – Board Certified) 

    • ATR-BC (Art Therapist – Board Certified) 

    • BC-DMT (Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist) 

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) are required 

    • Previous experience is preferred
