Recreational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the recreational therapy department including policies and procedures. Sets and implements guidelines for recreational therapy programs. Being a Recreational Therapy Director conducts patient programs in areas of social interaction, theater, games, crafts, and music. Communicates the results of patient care to other health services. Additionally, Recreational Therapy Director may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require professional certification. The Recreational Therapy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • General Summary

    The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is responsible for curriculum, instruction, and will be an integral part of the student educational experience. The Director will provide engaged instruction; develop curricula; conduct program, course, and student outcomes assessment; and advise and support students. The Director will engage in the professional work to advance the College’s mission by participating in institutional advancement, professional development, and community service in the pursuit of excellence. The Director plans and coordinates the clinical education for the Respiratory Therapy Program by performing the following duties:

    Specific Position Duties
    *
    Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field, board polices and accreditation expectations

    • Assist in the Planning, management and evaluation of all aspects of the program
    • Assist in developing policies and procedures for the Respiratory Therapy program
    • Oversees clinical education, and industry alignment and partnerships.
    • Assists the Director of Respiratory in the routine, day-to-day operations of the department
    • Assists the Director with all required reports and data in a timely manner, and all approval and accrediting bodies
    • Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community
    • Maintains up to date knowledge related to student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements
    • Manges recruiting, marketing and outreach
    • Actively participates in college functions and events, engages in community service
    • Ensure compliance with instruction practices
    • Manage all day to day operations of the program
    • Support the program in core program outcome documentation and assist in assessment
    • Assist with curricular development and changes in collaboration with the Director and Faculty
    • Attend meetings as scheduled
    • Attend all completion ceremonies for Odessa college and nursing programs
    • Perform other duties as reasonably requested

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in a healthcare related field of study. Masters or Doctorate preferred.
    • Possess a valid Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner License (active and current).
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (active and current).
    • Familiarity with planning, assessment, and evaluation process.
    • Curriculum Development experience.
    • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
    • Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.
    • Additional advanced-level professional credential(s) preferred.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
