    Responsibilities

    The Sport Club Program consists of 34 clubs comprised of approximately 50 coaches and 1,500 participants including students, staff, alumni, and community members. The Sport Club Director maintains day-to-day operations of the 34 individual sport clubs, ranging from Lightweight Crew and Women's Rugby to Ballroom Dancing and Boxing, and management and development of non-traditional competitive sport programs (ie. Esports). This is a campus-wide program which serves over 1,500 participants in an intensive year-round sports team setting. Many of these sports are considered intercollegiate sports on other campuses, adding to the complexity of dealing with various athletes and coaches.

    Oversees travel, lodging and food arrangements for teams on away trips, events and tournaments.
    Oversee travel and lodging for officials for home events.
    Develop and manage general program and individual club budgets including fundraising, gift development, and program fees.
    Plans and coordinates sport club programs and policies.
    Plans and schedules practices, tournaments, and sports events for Sport Clubs intercollegiate teams.
    Manages sport club staff, athletic trainer(s), paid and volunteer coaches, paid and volunteer interns, student directors, and club officers performance, career/professional development and adherence to job standards.
    Selects, trains and supervises staff.
    Provides risk management oversight for sport club operations and creates/implements procedures to ensure the safety of participants and employees.
    Ensures safety guidelines are adhered to.
    Required Qualifications

    Position requires strong inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse client group.
    Strong personnel and fiscal management skills required.
    Must be able to multi-task effectively, demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making, be an effective problem solver, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
    Must have functional knowledge of the intercollegiate athletics function.
    Intermediate computer applications skills.
    Must maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as other sports associations and leagues to which the Berkeley campus of the University of California adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
    Education

    Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with a college-level program.
    Salary & Benefits
