Recreational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the recreational therapy department including policies and procedures. Sets and implements guidelines for recreational therapy programs. Being a Recreational Therapy Director conducts patient programs in areas of social interaction, theater, games, crafts, and music. Communicates the results of patient care to other health services. Additionally, Recreational Therapy Director may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require professional certification. The Recreational Therapy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Director of Medical Nutrition Therapy-Restorative Care

  • Position Summary

     

    The Director of Medical Nutrition Therapy is appointed by the governing body and is responsible for organizing and directing the administration of the Medical Nutrition Therapy department services; ensuring 24-hour coverage and accountability for food and nutrition services.  Applies the management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, and directing activities to implement the medical nutrition therapy services. 

     

    Minimum Requirements

     

    Education          

    • Bachelor’s Degree

     

    Experience         

    • Minimum three years’ experience in food and nutrition services with at least one year in management experience

     

    License/Registration/Certifications         

    • Must pass Serv-Safe Certification within two years of hire and maintain certification.
    • For Registered Dietitian Only:
      • Licensure with South Carolina Department of Labor Licensing & Regulation, and
      • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian
    • For Certified Dietary manager / Certified Food Protection Professional Only:
      • Certified with Dietary Manager Association

     

    Preferred Requirements

     

    Preferred Education      

    • Master’s Degree

     

    Preferred Experience    

    • Five years’ experience and two years’ management experience

     

    Preferred License/Registration/Certifications     

    • ServSafe Manager Certification or ServSafe Food Handler

    • Establishes policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State and local laws, regulations, codes and current practice standards to ensure food safety and emergency food supply.
    • Has delegated authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency situation where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or a threat of damage to property or equipment. 
    • Responsible for the recruitment, retention, training and continuing education of department staff and approving patient menus, planning, purchasing of foods and supplies, and retention of essential record and departmental QAPI plan.
