Recruiting Director plans, develops, and directs processes to attract, evaluate, and refer candidates for open positions through recruiting website, employee referrals, on-site recruiting and other sourcing methods. Director of Football Recruiting Operations

  • Position Summary:

    The Director of Recruiting Operations is responsible for implementing the Kansas Football recruiting strategy and procedures by managing all logistics of NCAA compliance as it pertains to prospect eligibility. This position will work closely with the athletics compliance department and football academic support team to monitor prospect admissions and NCAA academic eligibility.  In addition, this position will manage relations with prospects and their families, high school personnel, and other various partners; manage all logistics of on-and-off campus camps/clinics, and oversee the recruiting travel logistics for the Head Football Coach.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities of all Positions at Kansas Athletics

    1. Adhere to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures;
    2. Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures;
    3. Foster cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members within the Department;
    4. Support the athletics department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and work to achieve and uphold the department’s mission statement and core values;
    5. Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and in working with other staff members;
    6. Exhibit professional decorum at all times while representing Kansas Athletics, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office and on the road;
    7. Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained while an employee of Kansas Athletics including all private, confidential, or sensitive information and ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.

     

     Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

    1. Implement the football recruiting strategy and procedures by managing all logistics in support of prospect campus visits (official and unofficial);
    2. Oversee the admission of potential student-athletes and assist with NCAA compliance matters as it relates to prospect eligibility. Work with the athletics compliance department and football academic support team to monitor prospect admissions and NCAA academic eligibility. This includes coordinating discussions with high school counselors to evaluate and secure transcripts, test scores, class schedules, and manage the prospects admissions process; in addition to, assisting the Director of Player Personnel in coordinating the National Letter of Intent and Grant in Aide process collaborative with the compliance office, and assisting the General Manager with player scholarship renewal paperwork;
    3. Manage prospect relations, and their families, regarding NCAA eligibility and University admissions processes, progress, and outcomes. This includes communicating with prospects and their families through calls, texts, emails, and traditional mailers;
    4. Oversee travel arrangements for the Head Coach as it relates to off-campus recruiting. This comprises of coordinating travel plans, developing itineraries, and coordinating all travel logistics (flights, hotels, etc.) with athletics Aviation Services and Anthony Travel; provide direction as needed to the coaching staff and serve as the liaison between coaches and various partners;
    5. Assist the Director of Recruiting in creating and utilizing visual aids and other materials to assist coaching staff with off-campus recruiting visits. This may include high school information packets, and pulling reports from the database system (ARMS);
    6. Collaborate with the Director of On-Campus Recruiting with planning and execution of on-campus recruiting visits (official and unofficial). This may include food service, ticket distribution, lanyards/credential creation, etc.;
    7. Manage relationships with high school personnel and visiting coaches as it relates to summer camps, clinics for on-and-off campus. This comprises of assisting with the organization of Kansas Football summer camps, serving as the primary contact for visiting coaches, ensuring NCAA compliance and completed required documentation are obtained (i.e., background checks, etc.), coordinating coaches travel arrangements, and securing camp lists in advance;
    8. Responsible for ensuring accurate academic eligibility information is provided, organized, and assist with the maintenance of all recruiting prospects’ personal information in the ARMS database, as it aids with conducting preliminary research on prospects;
    9. Responsible for complying with all NCAA legislation related to noncoaching staff members with sport-specific responsibilities which includes, but is not limited to, abstaining from providing any technical or tactical instruction on or off the field with any student-athletes;
    10. Additional duties as assigned by the General Manager, Head Football Coach, or their designee.

      

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
    • Minimum of three years of experience in recruiting for an NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics program;
    • Must have general knowledge of NCAA compliance guidelines;
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
    • Demonstrated strong sense of initiative, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, and a willingness to be flexible in managing changing priorities;
    • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail;
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize good judgement in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures as to exercise discretion in confidential matters is essential;
    • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively with a large coaching and support staff;
    • Ability and willingness to work an irregular schedule to support prospect recruiting events, home sporting event, camps/clinics, which will involve occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed during peak sport seasons.

     Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a Division 1 Power 5 football program;
    • Experience with database management or knowledge of ARMS software;
    • Creative experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or other services.

    This job operates in both a professional office environment and outside at football-related events, including inclement weather. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the football program and as job duties demand. Early morning, evening and weekend work is required.
