Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Referral Authorization Specialist to join our client at a woman-owned third-party medical billing company onsite in Dover, NH. The Referral Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate referrals for medical services. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate insurance requirements and authorizations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review referral requests from healthcare providers and ensure that all necessary information is included
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations as required by insurance companies
• Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to obtain additional information or clarification as needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all referral authorizations and communications
• Assist patients with understanding their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities related to referrals

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in referral authorization or medical administration.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance terminology
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare software
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
