Refinery Operator jobs in Gary, IN

Our Safety-Kleen Refinery in East Chicago, IN is looking for a Refinery Operator to join our safety conscious team. You will be responsible for receiving, sampling, and unloading all inbound bulk shipments of used oil by railcar and trucks including but not limited to data entry and managing paperwork.

• Sample all inbound rail cars, trucks, and trailers of used oil
• Prepare the sample, submit for lab analysis, and enter data in the WinWeb computer system for tracking
• Connecting rail cars, trucks and trailers into the correct pipeline for off loading.
• used oil receiving tanks
• Operate branch trucks (mainly on nights) position for unloading
• Perform daily inspections as required
• Acts as a switchman for rail switches.
• Follow all safety protocols to include lock out tag out
• Permit writing
• Good housekeeping - Organize and maintain truck and rail unloading areas
• Other duties as required

What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen?

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 Years experience as a manual labor experience (industrial, refinery or construction) preferred
• 1-3 years in a production driven environment preferred
• Rail and / or tanker loading unloading experience a plus!
• Permit writing preferred
• O&G experience is a an asset
• Mechanically inclined or familiar with general tools
• Computer literate and can operate an IPAD
• TWIC card is a plus!
• Punctal
• Follow direction and take initiative
• Must be able to work in the elements
• Lift up to 50lbs, climb, stoop, bend, stand for long period and working at heights
