Regional Agency Director is responsible for all facets of sales performance for insurance agencies within a designated geographic area. Develops policies, objectives, and initiatives for agencies in the region and is responsible for ensuring the region meets its projected goals. Being a Regional Agency Director coordinates operations with those of other regions. Directs agency and district managers in achieving their goals and objectives of securing the optimum volume of high-quality business at proper cost. Additionally, Regional Agency Director is responsible for number of premiums written per region. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Regional Agency Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Regional Agency Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     PRIMARY FUNCTION:

     

    ADL is seeking an Assistant Regional Director to join our team in Southern California. We are seeking an individual who is dynamic, organized, and dedicated to lead many of our region's programmatic efforts, including hate incident response, law enforcement relationships, community outreach, event planning, volunteer support, fundraising, social media, and advocacy. This Assistant Regional Director will work hand in hand primarily with the Regional Director in Santa Barbara to ensure ADL Southern California is working with a variety of stakeholders to deliver programs, support and expand our efforts, and serve our communities. 

    Responsibilities

    Primary:

    • Receive and conduct initial investigation of complaints of discrimination, antisemitic incidents, and other civil rights issues.
    • Conduct routine fact-finding research, using established contacts and developing sources as appropriate.
    • Resolve complaints or refer to senior staff as necessary.
    • Maintain required records.
    • Provide staff support to volunteer-led committees as assigned. Assist with related program and event planning. 
    • Coordinate speakers and logistics for Frontline speaker series and other regional programs and events.
    • Manage, maintain, and regularly update the Regional website and other social media.
    • Develop community relationships and network with other community groups to facilitate effective community action.
    • Represent ADL by speaking to school and student groups and law enforcement agencies. Conduct training directly and/or train volunteer leaders as facilitators for training programs, as appropriate.
    • Respond to inquiries from members of the public, demonstrating a working knowledge of ADL’s policies and positions and relevant local, national and world events, and assist Regional Director to respond to inquiries from the press.
    • Read, monitor and respond to media reports and opinion articles. May write and/or edit a regional newsletter or prepare Insider Briefings.
    • Maintain contacts with the staff of state legislators, local legislators and relevant government officials to promote the mission of ADL.
    • Assist in the smooth functioning of the office administration.
    • Undertake ad hoc research projects and provide special events assistance as required by the Regional Director.

    Secondary

    • May participate in fundraising events, cultivate potential donors and assist in maintaining donor relationships.
    • May schedule appointments, speaking engagements and coordinate meetings. Coordinate conference calls.  Make travel arrangements as required.
    • May provide administrative support to special events, board retreats and coordinate regular board meetings. Undertake all necessary details of event logistics; reserve location, negotiate contracts, plan menus, arrange set up, mail invitations and monitor reservations.
    • May manage regional office budget expenses. Process check requests.  Prepare and follow up on invoices and billing of outside vendors and consultants.  Establish and maintain financial databases as appropriate.  Assist Regional Director with budget preparation as needed.
    • May maintain supplies of ADL literature and respond to requests for materials.

    Qualifications

    Skills:

    • Strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills essential.
    • Proven ability to work with and influence a wide variety of people.
    • Proven diplomatic and conflict resolution skills.
    • Strong public speaking and writing skills.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Comfort in working with colleagues remotely across the country essential.
    • Strong competency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
    • Familiarity with WordPress, Salesforce, and social media platforms, or ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms.

    Work Experience:

    • The ideal candidate has several years of progressively responsible community service experience, or a related field, including program management experience.

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

    Work Environment: 

    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to represent ADL and to attend community events. Some travel within the region.
    • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL will require that all employees are vaccinated with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations. ADL is requiring proof of vaccination. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office. 

    Compensation: 

    • This position has a salary range of $52,000 to $70,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Santa Barbara, California. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
