    Job Responsibilities:

    • Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analysis to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
    • Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy.
    • Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
    • Studies blood cells, their numbers, and morphology. Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
    • Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer. Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
    • May train and become certified in DOT urine drug collections and breath alcohols.
    • Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data. Records instrument logs for any repairs, replacement, and needed maintenance of equipment.
    • Trains and supervises new employees.
    • Assists in writing descriptions of routines necessary to perform tests.
    • Processes patient’s samples to prepare for testing/shipping.
    • Performs decontamination of work areas.
    • Requests and stocks all supplies.
    • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies in all work/storage areas of Laboratory.
    • Maintains reservation/admission accuracy of 97%.
    • Maintains knowledge of State and Federal regulations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school
    • 6 months to 1 year of related experience preferred
    • Must have a current driver’s license.
    • American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and/or equivalent Medical Technologist certification
